How Long Should a Resume Be?

Start with relevance
Length is less useful as a rule than relevance. Keep information that helps a reader understand your fit for the role and remove repeated or outdated material.
When one page works well
Early-career candidates and applicants with fewer years of directly relevant experience can often fit the strongest evidence on one page.
When two pages can make sense
More experienced candidates may need a second page for substantial, relevant experience. The second page should contain useful information, not filler.
Quick check: If a section does not help the target role, consider cutting it rather than shrinking the font until the page becomes difficult to read.
